TNPSC Group 1 Exam Pattern 2015

TNPSC Group 1 Preliminary Exam Pattern 2015

We know that many people will apply for TNPSC Group 1 Exam. TNPSC cannot select everyone who appear for the exam. TNPSC will choose the right persons for the right jobs. So, TNPSC Group 1 Preliminary Exam will be like a screening test. The candidates who have basic general knowledge can easily pass TNPSC Group 1 Preliminary Exam. Preliminary exam will be of objective type. Objective type means the question paper will have Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Candidates have to answer through OMR Sheets. The candidates have to appear for a SINGLE GENERAL STUDIES paper. This question paper will have 200 questions. Out of 200 questions, 150 questions will be from General Studies and 50 will be from Aptitude & Mental Ability Tests. General Studies questions will be in degree standard and Mental Ability & Aptitude will be in SSLC standard. Each question carries 1.5 marks and the total marks is 300. Exam duration is 3 hours.

Candidates belonging to SC/ST, MBC/BC have to score a minimum of 90 marks to pass the exam. Candidates belonging to other categories have to score a minimum of 120 to pass out TNPSC Group 1 Preliminary Exam. As I said earlier, TNPSC group 1 preliminary exam is meant to serve as a screening test only. Marks obtained in preliminary exam will not be counted for the total final marks. Final marks is the addition of marks obtained in Main Examination and Interview only. Below, I have given a crystal clear view of the TNPSC group 1 preliminary examination.

  • Name Of The Paper- General Studies.
  • Exam Type- Objective Type.
  • Total Questions- 200.
  • Marks For Each Question- 1.5
  • Total Marks- 300.

Next lets move into TNPSC group 1 main examination pattern.

TNPSC Group 1 Main Exam Pattern 2015

Main examination consists of 3 papers. Those 3 papers are
  • General Studies Paper I
  • General Studies Paper II and
  • General Studies Paper III.
These papers will be descriptive in type. The questions will be in degree standard. Each paper carries 300 marks and so the total marks for TNPSC group 1 main examination is 900. Time duration for each paper is 3 hours. The marks required to pass the main examination is purely on merit basis and so we cannot assure a particular number. But in combination with interview test, if a candidates scores 310-420 marks, he/she has good chances to pass the examination. Below, I have given the crystal clear view of TNPSC group 1 main examination.
  • Total Papers- 3.
  • Name Of The Papers- General Studies I, II & III.
  • Exam Type- Descriptive Type.
  • Exam Duration- 3 Hrs.
  • Marks For Each Paper- 300.
  • Marks Required To Pass- 310 to 450.

TNPSC Group 1 Interview Exam Pattern

Many people fear about interview round. You know, Interview test is the easiest of all the three stages. The main aim of interview test is to assess the overall intellectual qualities of the candidates. TNPSC has already tested your general knowledge in the previous stages. So, in interview, they will asses your general qualities, morality and ability. Interview oral test will account for 120 marks.

Final Note

So, the marks obtained in the main examination and oral interview only will be counted for the total marks. The marks obtained in preliminary exam will not be counted. Hence, the total overall marks is 900 + 120 which is equal to 1020. The marks expected to pass is around 400-500.
